Ranelagh Harriers’ annual half marathon race, which dates back to 1980, is a fast and flat course starting from Ham, through to Richmond and Twickenham via the Thames Towpath, down to Kingston Bridge and back up into Ham.

The race forms part of the Surrey Half Marathon Championships; and the Surrey Road League. It is also part of the Ranelagh Harriers’ Summer Road Grand Prix and is its half marathon road championships race. Roads will not be closed to traffic, and the public retains right of way. While running you must keep to the left-hand side of the road and run on the pavement where possible, and observe the Highway Code.

Due to this, there is a 3 hour cut-off time from when the race starts. Ranelagh Harriers are an inclusive club and welcomes runners of all levels. If you are unable to meet the 3-hour cut-off time, please email half@ranelagh-harriers.co.uk

In the event of unexpected maintenance or flooding on the course, well-marked short diversions may be introduced. This will be announced as soon as possible. Unfortunately the course is not suitable for wheelchair users as it varies, and is uneven in stretches. Blind or partially sighted runners may be accompanied. All other runners must not be accompanied or followed by non-race participants (eg a runner or bicycle).

Dogs, except where an exemption has been granted by the Race Director for a medical assistance dog, are not permitted. UK Athletics rules do not permit buggies, pushchairs or similar.

In the interests of safety, the use of headphones and earphones are also not not permitted under UKA rules. The Race Director reserves the right to disqualify any runner failing to observe this important restriction.
