Event Details

The Harvel 5 started in 1999 and in June 2024 we celebrated our 25th anniversary,

The event appeals to all comers. The course records are a little over 25 minutes, though the event appeals also to people new to running (club  runners and unafilliated runners too). It is an incredibly popular event and we usually sell out of available race places). Entries will open on Saturday March 1st at 2pm

This is the feedback, we received from our Race Adjudicator, for our race in 2024:

This is one of the most successful races in the running calendar and has built up a strong following. The course itself is pretty around the trail section although this kind of scenery can be found in other local country races. What sets the Harvel 5 on a higher pedestal than its peer races though is the sheer amount of preparation that goes into it year after year to make it an event rather than just another race, as witness the runners staying on after the end to enjoy the fun and banter provided by the Harvel Hash House Harriers members. It just sets this apart as one of the top races in the country.

Think of our event as a 'well organised, club based, 5 mile race, collided with an English country village fete which includes an industrial amount of well brewed beer'.
