You are currently viewing Harrier Women Retain Lead after Knole Park

The club’s women’s team have retained their lead after the third Kent Fitness League race at a frosty Knole Park where they finished second behind Paddock Wood. Emily Collins secured an excellent third place and that means she has now gone past Faye Roberts in the table of runners with the best scoring percentage. Faye maintained a 100% scoring record for Canterbury Harriers over 14 races but Emily has now matched that and, also, has been the lead scorer in all her races whereas Faye was lead scorer in 9. Emily was well backed up by Lucie Parker (7th place and V35 scorer), Claire Pluckrose (V45), Joanne Norrington and Nicky Leatherbarrow (V55). Barbara Grogan did not score but finished just ahead of Nicky.

The club’s men were led home by Simon Jones who secured another top ten finish in coming fifth and was the club’s first V40 scorer. Alex Horsley (second V40 scorer), Peter Whall, Ben Parmar, Matt Slark, Greg Norman (V60), Colin Kent (first V50 scorer) and John Cooper (second V50) were the other male scorers with Roddy McLachlan, Henry Cox, Matt Newman and Aron Hancock not scoring but finishing ahead of the club’s last scorer. This led to the club’s men’s finishing eighth on the day and they are sixth in the men’s team championship.

In the combined team race the club finished sixth and are also sixth in the combined team standings.
